Krabi town and Ao Nang are the two rental conversations. Ao Nang is the beach strip. The town is where ordinary life is cheaper and less scenic. This note is for people who want the Andaman closer to the cliffs than to a villa estate.

Where agencies have published homes, they appear on the Krabi marketplace. Phuket is the deepest catalog today. Other cities grow as agencies list.

Krabi as a place to rent

Krabi town and Ao Nang are the two rental conversations. Ao Nang is the beach strip. The town is where ordinary life is cheaper and less scenic.

Phuket is a ferry or a drive away and a different economy. Do not assume the rents match.

Ao Nang is the tourist base.
Krabi town is the practical base.
The islands offshore are trips, not addresses, for most renters.
Stock is smaller than Phuket.
A scooter covers Ao Nang. A car helps the town.

Pros and cons

What works

The landscape.
Ao Nang is walkable.
You can live more quietly in the town.
Phuket is close when you want it.

What to weigh

Thinner long-stay stock.
Rainy season on the Andaman.
Fewer international schools.
Holiday lets dominate Ao Nang in high season.

What it tends to cost

Cost	Typical range
Ao Nang condo	THB 12,000–35,000 / month
Town house	Often less
Scooter	THB 3,000–5,000 / month
Ferry days	A lifestyle cost

Ranges are typical 2026 asking bands for orientation. Confirm the city and the unit.

How it sits in Thailand

Compare the national picture in best cities and the lease basics in Thailand long-term rentals.

Phuket readers should also see Phuket areas.

Day-to-day life

Climbing, boats, and early nights. If you wanted Bang Tao’s estate circuit, this is the wrong coast.

Market notes

Ao Nang short stays are the commercial product. A yearly tenant should say so, because the default ad is a holiday.

How Voivera fits

Voivera’s Thailand marketplace is the country catalog. An inquiry goes to the agency named on the card. If a city is still thin, that is honest: list when you are ready, and read the guide while you wait.

Next step

Spend a few days in Krabi on a weekday, then enquire on a specific home rather than a neighborhood slogan.
